When we set out to create the Kolorex Herbal Intimate Wash – Sensitive Care, we wanted a formula made for the moments when delicate skin asks for a little extra gentleness.
Horopito has always been at the heart of Kolorex, but for this new wash we paired our signature New Zealand botanical with an ingredient we have never used in our washes before — Gotu Kola.
Known for its long history in traditional skincare, Gotu Kola brings a beautifully soothing, restorative quality to our new Sensitive Care formula. Here’s why it earned its place in the bottle.
An ancient herb with a quiet reputation
Gotu Kola (Centella asiatica), sometimes known as Indian pennywort, is a low-growing herb that thrives in warm, damp environments across parts of Asia. It may look unassuming, but it has been valued for centuries in Ayurvedic and traditional Asian botanical practice, particularly for caring for delicate, stressed and changing skin.
In modern skincare, you may know Gotu Kola by another name: cica. Cica skincare has become popular for its gentle, calming feel, especially in products designed for sensitive, reactive or barrier-compromised skin.
Naturally occurring plant compounds in Gotu Kola, including triterpenes, are part of what gives this botanical its long-standing reputation in soothing and skin-supportive formulations.

Our Everyday Balance Wash is designed as a gentle daily cleanser for freshness and everyday intimate care. For Sensitive Care, we wanted a slightly softer formulation — one created especially for skin that may feel more delicate, reactive, hormone-affected or easily unsettled.
Gotu Kola fit that brief beautifully.
It brings a calming, comforting botanical quality to the formula, helping Sensitive Care feel gentle on skin while still leaving you feeling clean and fresh. Rather than using strong fragrances or harsh cleansing agents, Sensitive Care is all about a soft, balanced cleanse that supports everyday comfort.
Working alongside Horopito
Horopito (Pseudowintera colorata) remains our hero. It is the native New Zealand plant we have built four decades of research, growing and product development around, and it continues to anchor the Kolorex range.
In Sensitive Care, Gotu Kola does not replace Horopito — it complements it.
